I Will Be Your Rear Guard

The Lords Glory will Be Your rear GuardI got your back.  How many times have you heard that from someone.  If you are like me the answer is many, many many.  But do they?  When you are at the lowest point in your life or even if they have something they think may be more pressing do they really have your back?

I rest in the fact and am confident God has my back.  In Isaiah 58:8, God through the prophet tells us The Lord’s Glory will be our rear guard.  As I read this I realized I had heard about God putting a guard behind us for protection in other scriptures.  One close to my heart is the story of the parting of the Red Sea.  It shows that in circumstances so stacked against us, there is no other option but to depend on God, he was already there leading us then protecting us as we step out in faith.

That story, shows Moses leading the Hebrews out of Egypt to the promised land.  They come to an insurmountable obstacle, the Red Sea and seem to be trapped.   Blocked on all sides and being pursued by the Egyptian army, they thought God had led them to something they could not overcome.  We find that is not the case.  He parts the sea and keeps his beloved safe.  He leads them then puts a cloud behind them to protect them as they step out in faith to do what is humanly impossible.

The rear guard of God allows you to focus on what is ahead, to continue to put one step in front of the other and get through the day, the month and the year.  You can feel safe, secure and focused when God’s the one that has your back.
