Home and planning the next thing

Country Church at ChristmasWe left the mountains this morning at the crack of dawn.  Although everyone was anxious to come home and share all our findings, we were sad to leave.  In only 3 days we had formed a bond to the area and the people. (Deb already had one of course for about xx years – not telling her age here!) As we thought and prayed about the next step in God’s plan, we kept coming back to two things:  Bible study and kids.  Every time we were at the church during this visit there were kids coming up to the door.  The last time we were there two kids were standing there talking to us in the rain instead of heading home!  The area is hungry for a safe place for the kids and

We had the drop of an idea on Saturday to show the love of Jesus during the Christmas season.  As the next few days evolved, so did that idea.  We will be going back the weekend of December 17th and have a Christmas sing along.  We will decorate the church, read the Christmas Story from Luke, sing a ton of songs, have cookies, coffee, a tree and gifts for the kids! It’s a start and we will be reading from the Bible and I am confident there will be kids!

Deb and I and family will be headed back on the 16th to make it all happen through the power of the Almighty who is the only one that could tackle such a task.  We will also enlist the help of some of the local family for the flyers, the sign and any other items where you need feet on the street.

I will post all the details in the next couple of days and if anyone can come home for the event it would be so great!
